Mary Lemmer  (Founder & Executive Director)

Mary has been pursuing entrepreneurial ventures since high school and her efforts have been awarded with grants and awards. She has completed business plans for, pitched, launched, and developed companies in the food and beverage and clean tech industries, and social ventures. She helped the Michigan Economic Development Corporation raise $12 million for its supplier diversification program, increased online consumer sales and managed online marketing investments for Maggie’s Organics, and has grown her family’s Italian treats retail/catering business since its launch. She has advised individuals and organizations on carbon instruments and her carbon market research is published on the University of Michigan Erb Institute website  Mary will graduate in May 2010 with a BBA from the Ross School of Business, Minor in Environmental Studies, and College of Engineering Certificate of Entrepreneurship. In her "free time" Mary enjoys sports, volunteering, film/performance, horseback riding, rock climbing, gardening, reading, playing guitar, and plotting her path to make a positive impact on the world.

 

 

Bri Bloxsom

Bri is a freshman at the University of Michigan, planning on majoring in Mathematics and minoring in Classical Studies. She comes from Ray Township, a small, rural area in Southeastern Michigan. In high school she was the president of a Future Entrepreneur’s Club for two years. She is passionate about the environment and can't wait to Build Up! Michigan.

 

 

KT Michaelson

KT is a Sophomore at the University of Michigan.  She is pursuing her B.B.A. at the Ross School of Business and a Minor in Global Change.  She calls Rye, NY home, although she is a native of Michigan. KT hopes to combine her passions for business and sustainability, and pursue a career related to renewable energy. She shares these passions through her involvement with Net Impact, where she sits on the undergrad chapter's executive board. She enjoys raising eco-awarness and the impact individuals make on the environment.

 

Erica Tan

Erica Tan is a proud alumni of the University of Michigan's Stephan M. Ross School of Business. In December 2009, she graduated from the B.B.A, program with an emphasis in international business and marketing, and a minor in Chinese language. Currently, she is working for Dow Corning in Midland, MI, as part of their Commercial Sales and Development program. Erica enjoys reading, writing, watching foreign films, and baking lots of sugary things.  She believes that everyday is a chance to make yourself better than before. 

 

ADIVISORY BOARD

Peter Lemmer

Currently serving as SVP and Chief Legal Counsel for Greenstone Farm Credit Services, headquartered in East Lansing, Michigan, Pete provides advice and counsel on any legal, regulatory, or legislative matter or problems involving GreenStone FCS. He advises and renders opinions to the Board of Directors and management with respect to legal implications involved in establishing or changing company policy. He also works with representatives from various departments on developing and modifying practices and procedures to conform to legal and regulatory requirements. 

Pete assumed full responsibilities as the Chief Legal Counsel in September 2008. He has 24 years of experience as an attorney, of which he served 17 years in the position of Chief Legal Counsel, primarily in diversified financial organizations in California, Texas and Michigan. He has managed all aspects of in-house and outside legal matters and is experienced with federal and state laws and regulations pertaining to the financial services industry and publically held companies.

Pete graduated from Villanova University in Pennsylvania, obtained a Juris Doctorate from Thomas M. Cooley Law School in Lansing, Michigan, and had attended the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado. He is a member of the Michigan Bar Association and American Corporate Counsel Association.  Pete is very active in many community service projects, married to Alice and has three lovely children, Mary, Nicolas and Emily.

 

Jeffrey Post

Is Creative Director of TheZoom Collective, a portfolio of individual business enterprises that are all linked by design, product and sustainability.  Collectively, their scope covers a wide range of sustainable business strategies, product and property development and design, and multi-media integration.  Jeffrey has spent over the last 20 plus years in senior executive management developing advanced material concepts, brand strategy, and product marketing for a wide range of industries and companies including Ford Motor Company, Nike, Staples, Wal-Mart and SanduskyAthol International.  His team at Ford was the first in North American automotive manufacturing to launch a 100% sustainable seat material for use in the Ford Escape Hybrid.  He has worked tirelessly to educate many Fortune 500 companies on the opportunity and benefits in sustainable business practices, and is a key advisor to several local school programs and their own green efforts.  Jeffrey is a graduate of the University of Michigan, and also co-runs a successful family property business in Ann Arbor.

 

Doug Selby (CEO), BS (Chemistry), CGP, CAPS

Is a building science expert and managing partner in Meadowlark Builders, a full service, “deep green” design/build construction firm located in Ann Arbor, MI. Meadowlark is a national leader in high-performance new homes and  renovations of existing homes.  Doug has guided Meadowlark through rapid growth, quadrupling sales volume from 2006 through 2010 during the worst downturn in the construction industry in 70 years. Through vertical integration of high-performance building processes including computer-aided design and modeling, advanced building envelope techniques, HVAC, plumbing and custom finish work, Meadowlark has developed a strong niche in a rapidly growing market, green construction. Doug is also the CEO of a new startup venture, Meadowlark Energy, specializing in diagnosing and fixing the existing building stock in the upper Midwest
