When the ducks are done floating around in the tub, they’re going to need a bigger tub!
Tubbz Ducks is a product that has been made for children. It’s a bath toy that is designed to be filled with water and then, the ducks will float in the tub. This product is perfect for children who love swimming and playing in the tub.
TUBBZ has quietly been cranking out its own amazing and distinctive line of collectibles – in the shape of rubber ducks – while Funko Pops has dominated the market for big-headed, cartoonish figurines based on famous movie, TV, and gaming properties. After 3.5-inch ducky versions of the Ghostbusters, Lord of the Rings, Rocky, Back to the Future (which should have been renamed Quack To The Future) and a slew of other films, the latest collection adds little yellow versions of Chief Brody, Quint, Hooper, and Bruce the Shark from Steven Spielberg’s 1975 thriller Jaws to the mix.
Tubbz are one-of-a-kind collectibles that are ideal if you’re stumped for what to get a movie fan; the selection is huge in size and not too expensive. The attention that goes into creating these rubber duck toys appear like the characters they are intended to represent is what sets them apart. Each duck is designed by Numskull Designs as a “cosplayer” that is immediately identifiable even to people who haven’t seen the franchises to which they belong.
The most recent batch offers us a charming tiny rendition of “Bruce” the shark, with a wide open mouth and a small ducky face poking out. The official description was as follows: “What’s that approaching? Da dum… da dum… Is it a deadly shark? Oh, no, it’s only a quacking duck disguised like Bruce, the famed great white. But it doesn’t make it any less hazardous!”
We also have Quint, the Orca’s tough and ready captain, in addition to Bruce. Quint appears, holding a can of beer and dressed in his signature blazer, hat, and blue shirt. The exact depiction of facial hair, which includes a grey moustache and sideburns, is where this design, like many others, shines. Hooper is the third film in the series, and you can almost see Richard Dreyfus staring back at you. The beard is perfect, as is the hairstyle, and it’s all topped off with a wristwatch and a pair of glasses. Finally, we see Chief Brody, who is wearing spectacles again and this time spooning raw flesh while smoking a cigarette, as a precursor to the film’s concluding moments.
Over 45 years after its debut, Jaws is still regarded as one of the best films of all time. It seems an unlikely choice to base a cute little duck design on, as one of the first movies to receive a PG rating with the additional warning that some scenes were likely to be too distressing for small children, but somehow, in the madness of it all, it works, and once you see them, you really want one. With nostalgia for everything from the 1970s through the early 1990s on the rise, this sort of tie-in novelty couldn’t come at a better moment. When it comes to Funkos, it seems that the collection still has a lot of territory to cover, despite the fact that they are obviously aiming for a variety of themes.
If Season 2 of The Mighty Ducks happens, Kenan Thompson will return.
