In the latest trailer for his forthcoming action film, Blacklight, Liam Neeson is ready to kick some ass and not even bother to take any names. The film will be released in theaters on February 11, 2022, by Open Road Films and Briarcliff Entertainment. The picture shows Neeson in a familiar posture, appearing as gruff and determined as ever, pistol in hand, as he is once again involved in a plot that will need the deployment of his unique combination of abilities.

Blacklight is directed by Mark Williams, who previously collaborated with Liam Neeson on the action film Honest Thief last year, and is based on a screenplay by Nick May. It also stars Aidan Quinn (Elementary), Emmy Raver-Lampman (The Umbrella Academy), and Taylor John Smith (Sharp Objects). Neeson plays a disturbed fixer who works off the FBI’s books and is entrusted with rescuing covert operatives from hazardous circumstances in the film. Of course, he finds himself in the midst of a fatal plot when one of these agents challenges the very people he is working for, as is so frequently the case.
Paul Currie of Footloose Productions, Williams, Nestel of Sina Studios, Coco Ma of Sina Studios, and Alevé Loh of Zero Gravity Management are producing Blacklight on behalf of Zero Gravity Management. Zhe Chen, Lisa Wilson, Craig Chapman, James Michael Cummings, Craig McMahon, Paul Saleba, and Ortenberg serve as executive producers.
“BLACKLIGHT is a timely action thriller that seems like it was torn from today’s headlines from beginning to end,” says Ortenberg of the project. “It’s an honor to be collaborating with friends Myles Nestel and multi-hyphenate filmmaker Mark Williams for the sixth time, and to be working with the peerless Liam Neeson.”
“I’m thrilled to be working with Tom and Briarcliff to bring Blacklight to a broad audience,” Nestel said. “Liam and Mark have brought the action and thrills that viewers must see on the big screen once again.” Ice Road and Honest Thief, both directed by Williams, were the most recent films in which Neeson collaborated with Solution Entertainment. “It was wonderful working with Liam again,” Williams says, adding that the film allowed him to “unleash a really unusual character who works in the gray area between good and evil.”
Despite previously stating that he is ready to leave the action hero genre, ( “Oh, sure. Yes, I believe so. I’m 68 and a half years old. This year’s number is 69. I’m going to do a few more this year — hopefully, COVID enabling us — there’s a couple more in the queue, and then I believe that’ll be it. Unless I’m in a Zimmer frame or something, that is “( In the sake of our enjoyment, Liam Neeson continues to work. Along with Blacklight, Neeson will once again punch and shoot bad people in filmmaker Martin Campbell’s Memory and the forthcoming thriller Retribution, as well as returning to the snow-covered regions of Kehoe, Colorado for a sequel to the 2019 action thriller Cold Pursuit.
On February 11, 2022, Open Road Films and Briarcliff Entertainment will release Blacklight in the United States.
