The San Diego Chargers are proposing a trade with the Green Bay Packers that would send outside linebacker Melvin Ingram to the Chargers in exchange for outside linebacker Kyler Fackrell.
The packers schedule is a football game that takes place on Sunday nights. It has been around for a while and it has been played in many different stadiums throughout the world.
Preston Smith, a pass rusher with the Green Bay Packers, has been linked to a trade.
Preston Smith, an outside linebacker for the Green Bay Packers, had an instant impact when he joined the team in 2019.
He produced 56 total tackles (11 for loss), 23 quarterback hits, an interception, a forced fumble, and 12.0 sacks as a seasoned pass rusher. Preston finished second on the team with 12 sacks, trailing only Za’Darius Smith (13.5), and the two were dubbed The Smith Bros. by Green Bay, who hoped they would become one of the most formidable pass-rushing tandems in the NFL for years to come — but it didn’t go nearly as well for Preston in 2020.
Last season, Smith’s sack total dropped from 12.0 to 4.0, and he ended with 42 tackles (7 for loss), 11 quarterback hits, a fumble recovery, and a defensive touchdown.
According to one expert, the Packers might be better served this season by relying more heavily on third-year pass rusher Rashan Gary while moving Smith for a much less costly alternative.

Packers should send Smith to Los Angeles, according to one analyst.
Bleacher Report’s Brad Gagnon suggested deals that he believes all 32 teams should attempt to complete before the regular season starts, urging the Packers and Chargers to exchange Smith and defensive end Justin Jones.
Gagnon makes several valid arguments, including Smith’s age (he’s 28), and Jones’ cost-effectiveness (he’ll be 25 at the end of August). Here’s why Gagnon believes this is a win-win situation for both teams:
It may be time for the Packers to promote Rashan Gary to No. 2 pass rusher behind standout edge Za’Darius Smith, which may open the door for the Los Angeles Chargers to sign Preston Smith. The Bolts already have Jerry Tillery and Linval Joseph at defensive lineman, so Green Bay Jones may be used to shore up a mediocre run defense. It seems to be a no-brainer. Smith is the more experienced player, but he’s also a lot more expensive, and Jones, at the age of 24, has more potential to develop. The Chargers have the financial flexibility to make this happen, as two contenders from different conferences scratch each other’s backs.
Jones’ output isn’t nearly as great as Smith’s, but he has a lot of promise. Last year, he had a 70.6 overall rating and a 79.2 grade from Pro Football Focus. He had 34 tackles (five for loss), a sack, 10 hurries, four quarterback hits, and 14 total pressures at the end of the season. Smith’s PFF grades were less outstanding. He had a 53.1 overall rating and a 63.0 run defense rating.
Jones hasn’t been used in the same way Smith has; he’s been more of a rotational and situational pass rusher and run-stopper, which the Packers could utilize, especially if Gary is ready to step up and be a strong No. 2 on the defensive line, as Gagnon indicated.
Adding Jones and Dripping Smith to the Packers’ roster would help them financially.
This deal would also be financially beneficial to the Packers.
According to Spotrac, Smith’s cap hit in 2021 is $8,732,353, and it rises to $19,750,000 in 2022 after his contract was reworked last year.
Jones, on the other hand, has a cap hit of $2,396,535 this season and is set to become an unrestricted free agency in 2022. Jones, who was drafted in the third round (84th overall) by the Chargers in 2018, will be trying to impress prospective suitors when he reaches free agency, and the best way to accomplish so is to have a strong season this year. That might be advantageous to Green Bay.
Sending Smith to Los Angeles in return for a young run-stopper with promise is only one analyst’s suggestion, but given the potential advantages, the Pack may want to try if they can pull it off.
